ManyChat is well known for turning Instagram comments into private messages, and its pricing page lists WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, email and SMS as channels. People start looking at other tools for practical reasons, not because ManyChat stopped working: they need a team to share one inbox, they want orders and payments handled in the same place, or the price that follows their contact list has started to climb.
This guide compares four tools that people consider next to ManyChat: respond.io, WATI, SleekFlow and Karobar. It covers who tends to look for an alternative and why, a table of the facts that matter, a short section on what each tool suits, and a checklist for choosing. Every fact about another company comes from that company's own pages, checked on 3 October 2026, with the source listed at the end. Prices change, so treat every figure here as a snapshot and confirm it on the company's page before you buy.
Who looks for a ManyChat alternative, and why
A tool built around automation suits a creator or a small shop that mostly wants comment replies and welcome flows. The search usually starts when the work around the chats grows. These are the reasons we hear most often.
- The channels you need. A shop may sell on Instagram, confirm on WhatsApp and answer questions on Messenger or TikTok. You want to know which of these a plan includes, and whether they sit in one inbox.
- A team inbox. Once two or three people answer customers, you need assignment, so two staff do not reply to the same chat.
- Orders and payments. For many sellers the chat is where the order is agreed. A tool that only automates messages leaves you copying details into a spreadsheet.
- How the price is counted. Some tools charge by the number of contacts, some by contacts that were active in a month, some by user seats. The same shop can pay very differently depending on the model.
- WhatsApp message fees. Meta charges businesses for WhatsApp messages, so a tool's subscription is only part of the monthly cost. See what a WhatsApp CRM costs to run.
The four tools side by side
The table below uses each company's own pages. A cell that says "not stated" means we did not find it on the pages we read, which is not the same as the tool lacking it. Prices are the starting plan as shown on 3 October 2026, with the currency and country where the page gave one.

What the ManyChat snapshot shows
So you can compare like with like, here is what the archived pricing page lists. There is a Free plan at $0 for 25 contacts with no card needed, then Essential at $14 a month for 250 contacts, Pro at $29 for 2,500, Business at $69 for 7,500 and Advanced at $139 for 25,000, all as shown with yearly billing. The page says you can test Essential or Pro free for 14 days.
ManyChat describes an Active Contact as a real person you interact with during a monthly billing period, and charges a small overage fee per extra one, which falls as the plan rises (from $0.10 on Essential to $0.004 on Advanced). The page says Free and Essential connect any two channels from Instagram, TikTok, Messenger or Telegram, Pro connects three and includes WhatsApp, SMS and email, and Business and Advanced have unlimited channels. It also lists AI replies in DMs and comments from Pro, and 60+ ready-made templates for comment and follow flows. Orders and a product catalogue are not mentioned on that page.
How the price models differ
Two shops with the same chats can get very different bills. ManyChat and respond.io both count people you actually talk to in a month, so a quiet month costs less than a busy one. SleekFlow counts a contact as active only if a message goes either way, and says one-way broadcast recipients who do not reply are not counted. Karobar sets a contact limit per plan next to a fixed number of users, so the figure on the plan is the figure you plan around.
Seats work the same way. respond.io lists extra users at $12 a month on Starter, while WATI's Growth plan includes 3 users and does not allow more. Before you compare monthly prices, write down your contacts and your team size, then price each tool for that exact shop. Keep in mind that WhatsApp message fees from Meta sit on top of every subscription.
What each tool suits
respond.io is built for teams that talk to customers across many channels. Its integrations page lists WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, TikTok in beta, Telegram, LINE, Viber, WeChat, SMS, email, a website chat plugin and voice calls. Growth adds broadcasts, workflows and AI Agents, and it has native iOS and Android apps. It fits a support or sales team with a wide channel mix. Its pages describe WhatsApp catalogue orders in the inbox and Shopify through Zapier, and we did not find built-in order management or courier tracking described.
WATI is centred on WhatsApp, with broadcasts, no-code chatbots, a website chat widget, WhatsApp calling and native mobile apps. Its Shopify add-on confirms cash on delivery orders and sends shipping messages. It fits a business whose store runs on Shopify or one that wants a website widget alongside WhatsApp. See the full Karobar vs WATI comparison.
SleekFlow lists the widest connection set of the four, including Gmail, Outlook, SMS, Telegram and VoIP, with a Flow Builder, AI Agents and Shopify and payment-link features. Pro includes 10 user accounts, which suits a larger team from day one. WhatsApp costs are separate: its pricing page shows a number hosting fee and Meta's per-message charges.
Karobar is for shops and small brands that take orders inside chats. It brings WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and TikTok DMs, comments and Google reviews into one unified inbox, and its Sales Desk turns a chat into an order with cash on delivery or partial payment, a courier and a tracking link. Comment to DM works on Instagram and Facebook. Karobar AI drafts replies and a person on your team sends them. Plans start at $20 a month for one user.
How to choose: a checklist
Work through these steps with your own numbers. Each takes a few minutes, and together they will remove most of the guesswork.
- List your channels. Write down where customers message you today and where you expect to be in a year. Check each one on the plan you are considering, not only on the tool's channel list.
- Count your people. Include everyone who answers chats. A plan with a low user count can become the expensive one once extra seats are added.
- Estimate your contacts the way each tool counts them. Total contacts, active contacts in a month and contacts you message are three different numbers.
- Add WhatsApp message fees. Meta's charges are paid on top of the subscription for tools that use the official API. Ask each company how they reach your bill.
- Decide what happens after the chat. If an order, payment and delivery follow, check whether the tool records them or whether you will keep a separate sheet.
- Test comment to DM on a real post. Rules differ on which posts, ads and time limits are covered. respond.io, for example, documents a seven-day limit for Instagram private replies.
- Use the trial with real chats. Several of these tools give 7 days free. Move a few live conversations through before you commit.
