How a wa.me link works
A wa.me link opens a WhatsApp chat with a number without the customer saving it first. It uses the number in international format: the country code and number, with no plus sign, spaces, dashes or leading zero. If you add a message, it is already typed in the customer's chat box when it opens; they only press send.
The link works for any WhatsApp number, personal or WhatsApp Business. On a phone it opens the WhatsApp app; on a computer it opens WhatsApp Web or the desktop app.
Where to use your WhatsApp link
Put the link or QR code anywhere a customer might want to ask a question or order:
- Your Instagram and TikTok bio, and Facebook Page button
- Your website header, product pages and checkout
- Ads that send people to WhatsApp
- Packaging, flyers, shop counters and delivery slips (the QR code)
- Email signatures and invoices
Write a message that starts the order
A short ready message tells you where the customer came from and what they want. "Hi! I saw the blue dress on Instagram" is easier to answer than an empty "Hi". Make a different link for each place you share it, so you can see which one brings the most chats.
